orange county choppers :: essays research papers
Orange County Choppers à à à à à When I initially observed the show, Orange County Choppers, on the Discovery Channel, I was somewhat befuddled about its reason. From the outset, the show is communicated as one about a family run business that manufactures custom bikes. Be that as it may, at that point, as I kept on watching the show, it happened to me that it was proposed to be somewhat more. à à à à à Unlike conventional writings, ââ¬Å"The structure of TV makes us watch passively.â⬠(The World is a Text, by Jonathan Silverman and Dean Rader, p.105) Orange County Choppers repudiates this announcement. Through the improvement of the scene, the authors of the show compel you to begin breaking down the content of the show, effectively. Paul Sr., specifies numerous occasions that have occurred inside the family, outside the show. Paul Sr. is the ââ¬Ëold shrewd manââ¬â¢ in the show. He is father to Paul Jr. what's more, Mikey. Mikey does the entirety of the essential assignments required to maintain the business. Paul Jr. furthermore, Paul Sr. do a large portion of the work on the bicycles. There are different individuals from the staff at O.C.C. that are now and again observed chipping away at the bicycles. The three Teutuls show up in each scene. In pretty much every case, family exercises are never appeared in any of the scenes. In the 9/11 Bike scene, Pau l Sr. makes reference to a family get-together that later postpones the fruition of the bicycle. This discloses to you that the Teutul family is cherishing and they do get to know each other outside the show. à à à à à This widely acclaimed cruiser shop has manufactured bicycles for some famous people and sports stars. Orange County Choppers fabricated a chopper for Shaquel Oââ¬â¢Neal in one of the scenes. The components of the bicycle were conflicting with different bicycles they have delivered because of the stature of Shaq. à à à à à After perusing the show effectively, I understood that a considerable lot of their family esteems donââ¬â¢t seem, by all accounts, to be as one would anticipate. Paul Sr. what's more, Paul Jr. ceaselessly quarrel over highlights to add to a specific bicycle or how to approach including them. Mikey, child of Paul Sr. furthermore, sibling of Paul Jr., is consistently vivacious and kidding around. These differentiating characters make for an extraordinary show yet donââ¬â¢t speak to your run of the mill American family. à à à à à The entire family cooperates to maintain the business, with a large portion of the ladies in the family working behind the work areas and keeping things sorted out, and the majority of the men in the family doing the work.

It made me understand how significant conveying in this line of business is. During the meeting he gave me a portion of the things he does and I began understanding that there is something else entirely to it that simply going out there and selling a house. Things being what they are, aside from working with purchaser possibilities and customers. They have to get postings and administration them. As a realtor, your budgetary achievement relies upon building and keeping up a system of planned customers. Furthermore, as per Mr. Tijerino huge numbers of these connections must be kept up. ââ¬Å"Without Communication thereââ¬â¢s no cash, so you need to go out there and begin meeting new individuals consistently! â⬠in land Communicating with individuals is by all accounts the way to be fruitful realtor. Mr. Tijerino is an entirely friendly individual as should be obvious when you meet him and heââ¬â¢s full with all the abilities that require a realtor to be fruitful. Mr. Tijerino is a self persuaded and self-propelled individual continually keeping an uplifting point of view toward things. At the point when I was in his office he had let me know of the considerable number of plans that he had the extent that developing so I had asked him inquiries like ââ¬Å"What if the market takes another awful turnâ⬠or ââ¬Å"What if the market Crashesâ⬠and he told meâ⬠The Market is the thing that you need it to beâ⬠he generally appears to have an inspirational disposition going which I called attention to him and he advised that with regards to speaking with his customer base that itââ¬â¢s what has helped him make due all through this economy down turns. With regards to correspondence Mr. Tijerino is by all accounts an exceptionally instructive individual yet in a convincing manner which truly settles on a home purchasing choice significantly simpler than simply forgetting about things. My general supposition on Mr. Tijerino is that he is an exceptionally successful communicator and enlightening I would completely bargain business with an individual like him, and if I somehow managed to work with this individual it would authoritatively assist me with developing in this kind of business. You want to seem like a professional, which you are, and for that reason, you need to share some things about yourself.Of course, you are free to share only the information you think is necessary and you arenât obligated to share private information such as credit card information, your social security number and so on.The first thing you need to provide is your full name and you shouldnt use nicknames or pseudonyms because even though they are popular in the fashion industry, you are a whole other type of designer.Raymond Rivera RightRay RiveraRivera the Designer WrongSecond, you need to provide your home a ddress, phone number, and E-Mail. If you are for any reason uncomfortable sharing your address that is fine, however, a phone number and an E-Mail address are necessary because your employer or the HR manager must be able to contact you.Your home address is only needed if your employer wants to relocate you or if the company wants to pay for public transport or maybe even give you the company car. Also, because some lucky interior designers get to work from home, the company needs to know the home address so that it can pay out the monthly salary.Next is social media and this is a great way not only to provide some more information about yourself and your experience by using LinkedIn but also to showcase your artistic talent by perhaps having a blog or using your Facebook or Twitter account as sort of a portfolio.Of course, you should always create a new profile for your social media as well as a new E-Mail account so that you donât mix your private life with your career.Contact S ocial linksJeremy.brooks@gmail.comLinkedin.com/in/j.brooksTwitter.com/Jeremy.b RightContact Social linksSantaclaus76@gmail.comLinkedin.com/in/j.brooks90489432Twitter.com/jerryfromthebronx WrongWHATâS YOUR AREA OF EXPERTISE? SHOW IT IN THE SUMMARYThe Summary section should be an introduction to the rest of your resume and this is the part where you want to highlight your career accomplishments and let your employer know what he can expect from you.Because you dont have an option to show your design style on your resume, your summary is the second best thing which can help you to emphasize your past experiences and how good of a designer you are.Things you should highlight include: how many years of experience you have (many employers expect at least 2 years of experience), what is your area of expertise and which companies youâve worked for.It is also a good idea that, as an interior designer, you should mention what kind of interior design are you best at.Whether it is an off ice, house or even skyscraper interior designing, by mentioning it in the summary section, you are distancing yourself from other ordinary interior designers.Your Summary section should be 3 to 4 sentences at most and that being said, you should use this space responsibly and not just waste it to write nonsense.SummaryI am an office interior designer with over 7 years of experience. I have been working for companies such as EQUONIX, NBBJ, and Beeken Reeves. In my long career, I have created over 200 blueprints for office interiors and designed projects for large office compounds. I have great leadership skills and work ethics. I am very ambitious and I want to put all of my skills into good use. RightSummaryI am an experienced interior designer. I am very good at designing interiors for offices. I want to work for a great company such as yours so that I can put my skills to the test. WrongPro tip: If you arent sure what to write in your summary, then write it when you finish the o ther sections so that way you dont accidentally write something which doesnt match with the rest of the resume.LETâS SEE HOW YOU CAN SHOWCASE YOUR PAST EXPERIENCE AS AN INTERIOR DESIGNERThe Experience section is the most important section for an interior designer. Not only does it show your employer for how long youâve been a professional designer, but also the companies youâve worked for in the past can tell an employer if youâre any good or not. Most companies who hire interior designers know how other companies function and what kind of designers they need so if youâve worked for a famous company, there is a high chance that you will be hired. And this is obvious. No famous company would hire a bad interior designer nor would they keep him for more than 6 months if he isnât that good of a designer. Also, you should list your specific profession, for instance, instead of writing âinterior designerâ, you can write âoffice interior designer consultantâ so that your employer knows that you are specifically interested in designing interiors for offices.Apart from listing the companies, youve worked for and your profession, you also need to create a bullet list of accomplishments youve made during your job position and not just listing your obligations.Numbers are your friend and it is a good idea to include some numbers in your accomplishments. For example how many blueprints have you created or how many projects have youve been involved in? Right WrongSide note: Never write past jobs which have nothing to do with the job you are applying for because no one wants to know if youâve worked for Taco Bell while you were in college. Any unnecessary information will seriously jeopardize your credibility.FROM COLLEGE TO BLUEPRINTSAs with any profession, you need a college degree to become a professional interior designer and you maybe even need a certificate from a certified institute because employers want to make sure that not only are you a professional but that youre also responsible for what you do.As with architecture, interior designing is a nit-picky profession which involves not only creating the overall look of a buildingâs interior but also guaranteeing that nothing will go wrong in the building process as well as when the whole project is finished. For that reason, well-educated and certified interior designers are in high demand and with jobs like this one, there is always room for improvement. When stating y our education an important thing to remember is chronological order. And this is up to you, but it is better to list your education history from front to back mainly because you want to point out your latest academic achievements first. As you can see in our two examples from the beginning of the article, we did the first one from back to front and the other from front to back and although it is nicer to start with your first academic achievement, we think that as an interior designer you should put your certification at the top. Also, it is important to specify which college or institute youâve got your diploma from so that your employer knows it is legit and not just some 6-month online course because becoming a professional interior designer takes a lot of time and hard work. After that, feel free to add anything which you think is relevant, such as a good GPA score, extra-curriculum activities, involvement in projects and so on. Listing these things might help you to make an even better first impression on your employer. All in all, not all educated interior designers are that good in a practical sense and because you cant showcase your work and way of design on your resume, you shouldnt be too much bothered to show off your academic success, but it can certainly help at times.SKILLS THAT ANY INTERIOR DESIGNER SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN IN THE SUMMARYIf you want to get that job interview, hereâs how you should present the skills you have on your resume.First things first, it isnt a bad idea to divide the Skills section into three parts: interior design skills, other skills, and languages.Doing it this way is going to make your resume more presentable and will get your employers attention a lot quicker. In the interior design skills section, you should list the software you excel at when designing the interiors and you should also include other skills related to your profession. When writing your other skills, you should focus on the skills that you may have which ar e usually on the line of management, organization, work ethics, and so on.Of course, with any profession, it is great to speak another language because the more languages you speak the more use a company has from you because they may be put you to make a deal with a client who, for example, speaks Spanish and you will surely have plenty of benefits from that.Just remember to note which level of knowledge you have of each language, and of course which language is your native one. What should NOT be on your skills section are things that arenât related to your profession. On this note, everything on your resume must have some relations to your profession and the Skills section is no exception because it is one of the most important parts of the whole resume. Right WrongBy sorting your Skills section this way you are emphasizing your key skills which your employer or the hiring manager will pick up immediately and it will increase your chance of actually getting the job.BEST TIPS AND TRICKS FOR INTERIOR DESIGN RESUMEResume length â" Your resume should be two pages max and even that is a stretch. How to build stronger cross-cultural teams
In todayââ¬â¢s companies and business schools, we see more cross-cultural teams (or other diversity like cross-functional, etc). The advantages and challenges are explained in my previous blog. Based on my experience, these are some common problems, and ideas on how to deal with them. Dont underestimate the (subconscious) challenge As the world becomes more and more global, people start to believe that the world is one. Indeed on a superficial level, we are seeing a growing consistency in lifestyles across borders. You can have a similar Starbucks latte almost anywhere in the world, and through traveling and media, we are more exposed to cultures from all around the world. This might give the illusion that we all think the same way, and therefore the challenges of working across cultures gets underestimated. One way of dealing with this is to spend some time at the beginning of the teamwork getting to know each otherââ¬â¢s cultures in a social and casual way. Exchange stories from home and talk about different cultural traits with your teammates so that you can identify commonalities and challenge stereotypes. Focus on similaritiesà andà differences Naturally, the focus when working with people who are different is focusing on what is different, and this can often go hand in hand with judgment. So having the self-discipline to avoid any pre-judgment is essential. Additionally, people tend to have less contact with those of different backgrounds since it makes people feel uncomfortable (e.g. look at holidays were national groups spend a lot of time together). The other tendency is to look for people who display similarities and spend more time with them. If one of these attitudes are present in a team (and unconsciously they very much are) it misses out on the benefits of diversityââ¬âa wider breadth of thinking and creativity. Teams should, therefore,à seek out differences amongst members but look for one or two things that they have in common. This is a nice example: See it as a learning opportunity As cross-cultural teams are becoming increasingly common in todayââ¬â¢s business and learning environments, there is a trap to be wary of. Like many other experiences, the opportunity to develop can get repetitiveà and sometimes missed. But the real value comes from reflecting on the learning that can be distilled from the experience, taking time to reflect on what worked and what didnt. Integrating that learning is likely to make people not only ââ¬Ëwiserâ⬠but also more effective in working in cross-cultural teams. It taught me a lot about how I see people, how people see me, and how conflict can be resolved in a kind and productive way. The best feedback you get, when delivered constructively, is the most critical because it really feeds into how you lead. Iââ¬â¢ve completely reversed my leadership styleââ¬âthe result is so much richer and more powerful when you lead from behind and lead with strength. . Studying in tandem with working, whilst challenging, gave me the perfect platform to directly apply learning concepts into my business environment, the competitive landscape, and the real-estate industry as a whole. When I started the program, I was very happy in my corporate role. But my courage and aspirations grew to the point that I took on a whole new direction. Having my career coach, Joanna, as a sounding board allowed me to really be strategic and get to know myself. She coached me thro ugh all the interviews, the research, and the questions. It went in parallel with what I was doing academically and after six months everything just clicked. . I went into the EMBA knowing I had nothing to lose and Iââ¬â¢ve come out with everything. Great strength, global friends, amazing learning, mentors from professors, a job I love, and the knowledge that I can set my mind to achieve anything and with the right support and resources Iââ¬â¢ll get there.â⬠. I knew that Iââ¬â¢d have likely stayed in my neighborhood for years to come if I didnââ¬â¢t take this opportunity. Iââ¬â¢d not lived or studied outside of the U.S. before. So I left my job as a global strategist at an advertising agency and moved halfway around the world. Iââ¬â¢ve come back a more culturally aware, well-versed person. Iââ¬â¢ve realized that everything is a learning experience and an opportunity for growth. Ill definitely carry this mindset with me into the future. Technology and social media allow us to be different people in several places at once. Im excited to see how I can establish myself in whatever city Ill be lucky enough to call home and still maintain deep connections with people all over the world. Iââ¬â¢m inspired by my classmates every day. Hearing some of their life stories and how getting this degree fits into their greater mission has been very humbling. My biggest challenge has been finding the ââ¬Ërightââ¬â¢ path for me. There have been rooms Ive felt like I shouldnt be in, but now Im proud to feel as though I truly belong, wherever I am.â⬠.
